This is the last week of the internship and everything has been wrapping up. We worked on our presentations this week and I created my script for what I wanted to say for the presentation. We met on Wednesday to go through each component of the presentation and to wrap up the semester as a whole. Although there have been bumps in the scheduling and for the project, I am extremely proud of everything we were able to do and I am very thankful to be working with such an amazing team. Which I have made very clear as well to everyone.
In terms of the internship showcase, I loved listening to everyone's presentations and seeing the projected that they worked on over the semester. I was not nearly as nervous this time since during the summer internship showcase it went so well. For a very long time I had been afraid of presenting but in sophomore year of college I had a professor who really pushed me to be more confident while speaking. In terms of the presentation, we each went through our skills, challenges, and experiences about the internship. I chose to discuss my experiences with the digital component and the struggles that I had faced. But ended off with a message to future interns that I shared with other interns. It makes sense that fellow historians would find themselves to be more introverted having to learn how to get out there, as sometimes the way to get into a project could be intimidating.
My favorite presentation was for the Playbill preservation project. Since I have been in band for forever, we were very much connected to fine arts. I have dabbled in the history of theater (I took theater history II at my old college) and I have enjoyed some musicals in the past. Of course it started with Hamilton, naturally. Another presentation I enjoyed was the fellow public history central internship groups. I have heard of their projects for the semester, however, getting to see the PowerPoint and hear more about the specifics was very entertaining.
As I close my final internship blog, I wanted to reiterate the amount of joy both of my internships have given me. I have struggled to find my place within the history program, however, these experiences have given me the chance to show my passion to others. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
