This week, we did not have a field trip, instead we had a regular Zoom meeting on Wednesday to give an update on what everyone has been working on. It was interesting hearing what people in other groups have been working on, such as in-person interviews. We also discussed what we believe to be unspoken rules in the workplace, for example, knowing how to balance work and life. For example, higher-ups sending emails outside of work hours. Obviously, I don’t have much of a work life balance, and it is difficult to find that separation, but I actively try every day to attempt to have free time and not respond immediately to emails if they are sent not in work hours.

The Bicentennial team focused on the proposal for the digital exhibit. My original idea was to create a Prezi presentation because their presentation tree system used to be a great way to go through each topic. However, in its current state, it is unusable due to the constant pushing of AI. At first, this did not bother me, as I am used to ignoring the automated AI generation of a random presentation. However, as I was using the program, it blocked everything we used to get for free behind a paywall, and I apparently used all of the “AI credits” even though I made sure not to use anything of the sort, so I believe they are just lying to make me pay for a service. I was clicking around everything, and apparently, it used “credits”. Therefore, I switched to a Canva presentation, although it didn’t have the format that I had in mind. I tried to make it the best that I could for an example presentation. The presentation focused on each narrative piece that we are going through, and had placeholders for information and the images of each case for the future. There will also be “digital exhibit exclusives” such as an interview made by Dr. Crepeau, and a digitized version of a VHS tape that we found within the boxes. Meanwhile, Sharon created a Gantt chart to show a bi-weekly schedule for the person who will be working on the finalized digital exhibit, starting from June 10th. The goal is that someone will update the digital exhibit every two weeks with more information to complete. I believe our next step is to go through the boxes again to find what items are in which box. Therefore, the next group will be able to find each item fast, without having to go through every box to find each object that we wrote down for each case.
